The mission of the Pause for Patriotism is to instill a love of country among our fellow citizens and their children and to honor those who are currently serving or have previously served in the armed forces or as first responders.
The Pause for Patriotism is intended to be a year round program involving educational initiatives, static and active public displays, and culminating in a patriotic celebration of Americanism on Armed Forces Day. The Armed Forces Day event is designed to demonstrate patriotic feelings and attachment for the land and people of the United States to the families and the children of the greater Kankakee River Valley area. It includes events intended to foster admiration among our younger citizens for the customs and traditions of our country through the inclusion of scouting events. It is also intended to seve as a celebration, display of gratitude, and remembrance for all those who have served in the past and have accepted the responsibility of safeguarding the welfare of our nation. This annual culminating event also offers the opportunity for the community to "bond" with first responders and military personnel, while promoting a positive image for the armed forces and first responders. The Armed Forces Day event is a community celebration of liberty and the patriotic service that makes it possible.
